Peace Corps Philippines
Post undergrad and in determination to continue to teach and broaden my understanding and knowledge of education in an international context, I joined the Peace Corps. I soon found myself teaching English at a tertiary institution in the Philippines. The relationships formed, experiences had and mutual knowledge shared in the Philippines continued to expand my belief that education and access to quality education is fundamental to the development of any society.
During my 32 months in the Philippines I used a blog to keep in touch with family and friends. I blogged about daily interactions with new local friends, about projects that I was involved with and general observations about being an American living in the Philippines. These blog posts, while not perfect, depict a raw sense of what I saw and what I was doing in my community.
